Calorifier in the B core Sprinkler Pump Room. This is basically a larger version of a domestic hot water cylinder, a heating coil from the Boiler House transfers heat to cold water. The water from this tank was for what was labelled ‘Industrial Hot Water Supply’ so the sinks/equipment in the Print/Helio/Photographic areas and the former B core tea station as well.
The B core toilets were, interestingly, not served by this tank as they were fed from the calorifiers behind B lift. I am not sure what this tank was used for after the Photographic/Helio sections and tea station were decommissioned. Maybe still the print floor and the Business Centre’s new toilets/hospitality rooms.
