This plant room, at the bottom of the stairs to the Restaurant, contains pumps for the sprinkler system, as well as the mains water intake for the whole site. The blue pumps double the pressure supplied in the mains water, if they were not used then there would not be sufficient pressure for the water to reach the top of the service cores. To the left is a water treatment system; this uses chlorine to sterilise the water in order to kill any bacteria. That’s why the general water here is NOT drinking water! The drinking water taps are supplied directly from the mains.
