OTIS floor selector, E lift. This fantastically old-fashioned contraption tells the lift controller where about the lift is in the shaft, it is driven by a metal tape attached to the lift car. It comprises of various contacts and plates that rotate and make contact as the lift moves up and down. It controls such things as floor levelling and speeding up and slowing down the lift when it starts up. Such devices have long been obsolete.
